Images of mysterious six-winged Angels
A collection of photos of historic depictions & contemporary art

These are two six-winged Angels that I cropped from an icon. I just felt like adding our Milky Way Galaxy into the center. (The original photo was sent to me. I think it was taken in Georgia or Armenia. I do not know the details.)
This is a fragment of a wall somewhere in Armenia or Georgia. The photo was sent to me without further details. I was particularly intrigued by the eyes. Somehow, this face stands out compared to the other artwork I have seen.
Also, how many wings do you count?
Are there six or eight? Sometimes, one wing is depicted as folded, almost appearing as two different ones; sometimes there are different wings on top of each other. I feel like this Angel has eight wings.
And given the unique face, maybe, it is not a Seraph at all.

A photo of a painting of a Six-winged Angel I received as gift.
Another image that was sent to me. I do not know details. This image is a bit fuzzy, because these two Angels were painted on a ceiling. One four-winged Cherubim Angel and a six-winged Seraphim Angel. Both have lots of eyes on their wings. They are also sometimes called the Watcher Angels.
A similar photo to te one above. I do not know the exact location where the photo was taken from which I cropped the two High Angels. (Somewhere either in Armenia or Georgia.) I cropped them from a ceiling painting. Again, we have a four-winged Cherubim Angel & a six-winged Seraphim Angel. In today's post you see that the positions of the wings pointing up and down are identical for both Angels. If you go back to the previous post, you notice that the wings of the Cherubim Angel there are folded differently compared to the Seraphim Angel.
A Seraphim Angel carved out of sandstone from a facade somewhere in Armenia or Georgia The photo I cropped this from was sent to me without additional information.
This mysterious six-winged Angel is a Photoshop-enhanced image that was sent to me. I do not know where it was taken (I think from somewhere in either Armenia or Georgia). I really like the intricate surrounding art. This is one of the very few Seraphim depictions where I feel that I can almost detect a bit of a smile. These High Angels are normally depicted with a completely emotionless face, because it is believed that this level of consciousness transcends all emotions.
I really like this six-winged Angel because I have always been mesmerized by Celtic knot-work designs. This is the only depiction I have seen so far where a Seraphim Angel and traditional Celtic designs are combined. I do not know where the photo was taken. I was sent an entire folder with photos taken during a trip through Armenia and Georgia. And this one was included.
Additional A circle of eight six-winged Angels. What I find unusual here is the choice of green color for half of these mysterious Angels. Most of the time they are depicted in either in red, blue or gold. Also, it is quite common to have a combination of red & blue in the same wing. Sometimes there is a gradual change in color within a wing, or at other times the outside of the wing is red and the inside is blue, or vice versa. I have seen Seraphim Angels in many different colors, but they seem to be the exception. I wonder why here they felt inspired to show four green ones. My assumption is that the red ones are intended to be Seraphim and the green ones are Cherubim. (Again, this photo was sent to me in a folder with many depictions from a long trip through Armenia & Georgia. So I do not know any specifics about the location of this art.)
This mysterious six-winged Angel looks very old to me. I wish I had more information about it.
Looking at this photo seems to take me back in time, into a very distant past. I have no further details about the location of this piece.
This is from a low resolution fuzzy image from a ceiling somewhere. I wish I had this in better quality. It is part of a larger ceiling depiction of mysterious six-winged Angels. I selected only two out of a longer row. I assume that the blue wings are designed to indicate that one is a Cherubim Angel and the red wings identify the Seraphim Angel. I found it so unique that the heads were added as brass sculptures, giving it more dimensionality. Due to the grainy nature of the original photo, I did a lot of Photoshop color enhancing.
The wings of this mysterious six-winged Angel remind me also of waves in the ocean or clouds in the sky. I feel a strong water connection here. Every time I look at a snowflake, it instantly reminds me of the Seraphim. Are snowflakes not like miniature six-winged Angels?
Some may argue that this could be a depiction of a Cherubim because of the dominant blue color. However, I have seem many depictions of Seraphim with blue wings, or with mixed-color blue-red wings. Instead of a face, we see only a red circle, which I take as a reference to the fiery nature of the Seraphim.
Two almost identical depictions of these mysterious six-winged Angels guard the entrance door to an ancient church outside of Konya in Turkey that is now a museum. I took many photos there in 2015.
Another photo of a mysterious six-winged Angel from my collection. I took this photo in Turkey. When you compare it to the other Angels I posted previously, you notice that it is somewhat unusual that the upper and lower wings are overlapping the same way. In most depictions, it is different for the top and bottom wings. If the upper right one is on top, the lower left one will be on top, or the other way around. But in this depiction it is different. I wonder if there is a hidden meaning in these details.
I cropped these three high Angels from a photo of an embroidery. There is a six-winged Seraphim Angel, a four-winged Cherubim Angel with eyes on the wings, and the interlocked rings with wings are the Throne Angels who are sometimes also called the Ophanim Angels.
One understanding is that the Seraphim are always directly surrounding and praising God/the Creator/the Divine Source. The Cherubim are the Angels that assist in the process of movement & re-location of an apparition of God/Creator/Divine Source & the Ophanim/Throne Angels somehow create the platform for the Creator/God/Divine Source to be able to manifest as an apparition in one specific location. These three types of Angels are believed to be the Highest Orders of Angels and they work together as team.
In yesterday's post, I showed how the Throne Angels, also called Ophanim Angels are often depicted as interlocked rings with wings. The painting today shows how a mysterious six-winged Angel stands on a bar that is connected to rings on each side. It looks like there are flames bursting from the rings. Again, the rings are a reference to the Throne/Ophanim Angles. They are believed to play an important role in helping the highest levels of Spirit to manifest as an apparition in a specific location. I interpret this depiction here as a Seraphim Angel being assisted by an Throne/Ophanim Angel to be able to appear to an audience. That may be a reference to the need for a significant transformation process to occur when such high levels of spirit want to become perceivable to us in the physical world.
I want to add a follow-up to the photos I posted in the past two days. I took this one in Turkey, while visiting the mysterious underground city in Cappadocia. Again, we have all three types of Angels appearing together as a team. One six-winged blue Seraphim Angel and one four-winged golden Cherubim Angel with many eyes on the feathers of the wings.
The white interlocked rings with red background are the Ophanim, also called Throne Angels. If you are a friend of sacred geometry, you recognize that they look like vesica piscis, right? An interesting cross-connection, isn't it? In this painting, here they have neither wings nor flames. Please check my posts from the past two days to compare them. They are believed to make it possible for the highest levels of spirit to manifest in the material world.
The probably most famous Seraphim depiction worldwide is this one. There are four gigantic Seraphim depictions inside the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. Only one of them - this one - still has the original face mosaic preserved.
This close-up photo was given to me by one of the Turkish photographers who documented the restoration process and the official unavailing of these beautiful mosaics after years of work in 2009.I did not alter the colors.
When observing ancient depictions of Seraphim Angel faces, we notice that, for the most part, they are devoid of any display of emotion. It is believed that at this high level of consciousness, emotional states we know as humans do not exist.
This mosaic was added just a few years prior to the conversion to a mosque in 1453.
